Week 4: Turning Interviews Into Articles

A.The Post Interview Process:

1.Review

This is checking the interview recorded successfully, is too sufficient quality and is backed up. This is important as if something went wrong and you don't notice in time it may be too late to fix the issue.

2.Transcribing

This is writing up every word throughout the interview. This is important so you're able to directly quote the source and have evidence to back it up.

3.Structure

This involves planning out the structure of your article, creating an idea of how your work will look and what you'll talk about. this is important as it makes writing up easier and less straining.

4.Quotes

This involves picking quotes from the text that stand out. This is important as it helps drive the narrative, picking a good quote allows you to form the body around it.

5.Writing Up

This involves the above steps, all come together to allow you to write up a well structured article. Writing up is important as it's the final product readers will see so it's vital that it's the best work you can produce.

B.Edward Enninful

The angle: I chose to focus on Enninful being a refugee and black history. I chose this angle as they're issues I myself am passionate about and believe deserve a platform but it's also a way to grab peoples attention.

Quotes: "this country was built on refugees", I chose this as it may spark controversy and grab peoples attention. "Black History Month is really now more important than ever", people may question why it's more important now than ever and it's an important statement. It would also be good as a pull quote. "There was a reckoning when George Floyd was murdered", people don't often mention his name anymore but when they do it sparks controversy and discussion.

Teaching new generations about Black History Month is vital to ensure the past doesn't repeat itself, "black history is ignored quite a lot of the time, and I feel that we have to teach a new generation." Speaking of new generations leads Enninful to mention what he values as important education regarding Black History Month, "How to sort of work together, live together and create a real society."
