Week 5.2: Podcasts - Essential Structuring and Planning

Podcast Structure

  • Intro: A short but detailed description of your podcast episode. It needs to interest the listener from the beginning or they will click away. You can give brief hints at what will cone later in the episode to keep them interested.

  • Segment: A planned out topic of your podcast that isn't scripted but features planned questions allowing you to get a direct answer, interesting the listener. Your segments should take up the majority of your podcast.

  • V/O script: A voice over given throughout the podcast which is recorded after the podcast has been recorded.

  • Link: A short and informative scripted line which shows a link between the last subject/guest to the next.

  • Teaser or Pre-sell: A few scripted lines in order to entice the viewer to listen on. Will often contain small snippets of audio from the podcast.

  • Plug: Used to promote other medias in association with the podcast. For example, our podcast will promote NEON Nottingham.

  • Outro: Used to summarize the podcast and explain what the viewer should takeaway from the podcast.
