Marvel Studios’ 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' is set to hit the big screen on November 11th 2022 after being announced in May 2021 as a tribute towards Chadwick Boseman. Many questions are yet to be answered but one remains on the tip of every marvel fans tongue, who will replace Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther. Boseman made his marvel cinematic universe debut in 'Captain America: Civil War' (2016) while also being diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer at 39 years of age. Boseman decided to keep his cancer from the public eye and continued to work on several other projects including his own solo marvel film, 'Black Panther' (2018). On 28th August 2020 Boseman sadly passed away leaving behind the legacy of T'Challa, The Black Panther. Boseman's marvel cast mates had a few words to say, Chris Evans posted "I'm absolutely devastated", Robert Downey Jr stated, "He wasn't just a hero on screen".
'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' will follow the demise of King T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) who's death brings unexpected havoc upon Wakanda. Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M'Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers. Ryan Coogler, Director of 'Black panther: Wakanda Forever' states that 'Terminator 2' was a big inspiration for this films villain, "I think about them as, you know, this is a character that's going to come in conflict with my protagonist. And it'd be interesting if they want the same things, but because of who they are and what shaped them, they want to get those things in different ways and their means come in conflict with each other. And it comes to a head."
Marvel fans have taken it upon themselves to make theories about the plot as the trailer doesn't give too much away. The trailer reveals Wakanda mourning T'Challa, then proceeds to show the villain, Namor: The Sub-Mariner. As he emerges on screen the words "He's coming for the surface world" are uttered proving this to be Wakanda's next struggle. The end of the trailer shows someone to be falling from the sky, when they land it's evident that it's the new black panther due to the classic black panther suit. The question still remains, who is it?
@Kryptokingpro on Twitter states, "Shuri is the next black panther, my theory."
ScreenRant puts forward a fan theory found on reddit that Killmonger, T'Challa's cousin, coming back as black panther after being killed off in the first film.
